Giving voice to those who are too scared to speak through dance.
After immigrating, Spanish became almost unnatural to me. The language that all of my family spoke had become an obstacle for communicating with them in a deeper way.
Through my choreography, I can mend that gap while also giving voice to those who are too afraid to speak.
EL SUEÑO
EL SUEÑO is a 9-minute piece about the immigrant experience in the U.S., divided into three vignettes. It explores the challenging journey to reach a “cage made of gold,” the struggles of laborers sustaining the country, the fight for future generations, and the embrace of the community built here. It celebrates the fruits of labor and highlights the diverse yet united experiences of immigrants through grief, sweat, and love.
